Memory, the ancient way
Katechesis (Greek κατήχησις — “instruction by word of mouth”, the root of catechism) is built around the oldest way of learning anything by heart: call, response, repeat. Hear a line in a natural voice, recite it aloud, and the app listens and scores you — then brings it back again and again until it sticks.
It works entirely on your device. There are no accounts, no subscriptions, and nothing you study ever leaves your iPhone or iPad.

Import What You Memorize
Bring in your own EPUB texts, split them into lines and sentences, and choose exactly which passages to commit to memory.
Learn by Reciting Aloud
The app speaks each line, then listens as you say it back — a true call-and-response drill, hands-free and eyes-free.
On-Device Speech Scoring
Your recitation is transcribed and scored against the text right on your device, word by word. Nothing is sent to the cloud.
Natural Neural Voice
Each line is read in a warm, natural on-device neural voice, with your device's built-in Apple voices as a fallback.
Cumulative Rehearsal
An expanding drill reviews what you know and revisits what you miss. Mark Got it or Again, pause anytime, and pick up right where you left off.
Listen & Rehearse Modes
Play your lines back-to-back to soak them in, or switch to Rehearse mode, which leaves a gap after each line for you to recite from memory.
Offline Audio
Pre-render a drill to audio once and review it anywhere — smooth, instant playback with no network and no synthesis delay.
CarPlay & Background
Review your lines hands-free on the drive, with lock-screen and CarPlay controls and Now Playing info for every passage.
Private by design
Katechesis is offline-first. There are no user accounts, no analytics, and no tracking. Every voice and every score is generated on your device — nothing you memorize or recite is ever sent anywhere.
